Once you study algebra and trigonometry and are comfortable with these
topics, the next step is calculus. To be successful in
calculus, you need a solid foundation in algebra: how to factor,
simplify fractions, solve equations, find equations of lines and more.

Calculus has applications in business operations. For example find the price (or quantity) that maximizes the revenue, finding the dimensions that minimizes the cost to construct a box, how fast the profit is changing at different levels of production.
